graffiti

what do you think about graffiti?

when executed legally & in appropriate locations, they are an art to be appreciated. i recently took a walking tour of newtown to appreciate this art which is an expression of thoughts & emotions representing modern day society. matthew peet, aka mistery lead this walk.

martin luther king "i have a dream" mural by andrew aiken. this was done over 2 nights using a cherry picker

my friend mercie found this walking tour and invited me to join her... thanks mercie i had a wonderful time.

i love the signwave poster above the graffiti on this wall

this abstract piece looks fantastic next to the white metal gate...  contrastingly, the snide "tags" that have been scribbled all over the black wall on the other side of the gate is just ugly.

this was on the side of a childcare centre, commissioned graffiti work (sorry i don't remember the name of the artist).

we are lucky to have freedom of speech in australia

for something different, knitted street art... i love it!

linda

did you know that linda in spanish, means pretty?

for those of you who don't know linda, you would have to agree just by looking at the photos of her that she is.  perhaps even a pretty name like linda isn't actually quite adequate... she's more than just pretty.  beautiful with an infectious smile & a natural model (no training required, she just jumped right into it, we just chatted away while i was shooting photos) would be a more appropriate description & that's just a description of what she is on the outside!

on the inside where it counts... she's smart, generous, charismatic, passionate, fun, assertive, independent, caring, loyal and that's just scratching the surface.  she's ten times that, & i have the pleasure to be able to work in the same division as her, and on the day of this shoot, some quality time together to get some photos for a special occassion.  her beloved pooch peekay, loved to bits by the entire family stars alongside linda in the photos you see below.  i hope you enjoy them, i certainly love them & thoroughly enjoyed taking them... & the lovely conversations we had.

happy 1st bday alyssa

one year flies by so quickly... when there are kids around & you see them growing up, the passing of time is even more noticeable. i blogged about alyssa when we celebrated her birth, & not too many blogs later i'm writing about her first birthday.

alyssa is my cousin's daughter. when i look at her & her brother, it reminds me of their dad when he was a kid, they really look like him. he's a few years older than me so i didn't really know him at their ages but i know because of photos from when he was a toddler. must be weird having mini versions of you running around.

birthday girl... it was a little difficult to get photos of her, she was surrounded by kids!

here with mummy, daddy & brother

oh wow! how cool is this bday cake? it was made by her doting auntie.

happy 1st birthday alyssa!!
